A baby and her family made news this October when they completed their road trip to all 50 US states. Not only that, but baby Harper Yeats might qualify for the Guinness World Records as the youngest person to do that at just under six months old. Her Australian parents who are currently living in Canada recorded their trip on Instagram, so the world could watch the adorable family travels.

Although it might take years instead of months, many people plan to visit all 50 states. There’s even the All Fifty States Club you can join if you’re on your way to accomplishing the feat, and an app to track the states you’ve been to.

If your family is planning a 50-states trip, get some tips on road tripping across the USA and see how one family accomplished their goal of visiting every state before their kids graduated high school.

When our youngest was five years old, my husband got the idea to take the kids to every state. That year, we flew west and drove a loop through five states. Since then, we have added several states to our list. Our family is slowly making our way through all 50.

So far, the boys have been to half of the states:

Alabama

Arizona

California

Colorado

Florida

Georgia

Illinois

Indiana

Kentucky

Louisiana

Michigan

Mississippi

Nevada

New Mexico

New York

North Carolina

Ohio

Pennsylvania

South Carolina

Tennessee

Texas

Utah

Virginia

West Virginia

Wisconsin

My husband and I have been to 31, but they aren’t all the same states.

(We also drove across southern Ontario earlier this year, and we’d love to see more of Canada as well.)

The boys will add at least seven more states on a trip we are planning for next summer. They probably visited the most during our cross-country road trip last summer.

Have you visited several states? Feel free to share your experiences on The Pack’s Facebook page.
